I could go on. In fact, I could probably write a whole book on the subject and still have more to say, but this piece really is quite long enough especially for internet standards so I'll wrap it up.
A message to the naysayers
I'll make what may unfortunatly be an unfair assumption about those of you who disagree. It's my guess you don't play video games. So I'll close by saying the following.
Please look beyond what you expect to see. Don't try to claim such immense knowledge on a subject you clearly have not studied or taken the time to understand. Define your terms (that goes for my supporters, as well). Arguments and debates and discussions are based on sound reasoning, and that includes adequate definitions (as well as accurate data). Do not dismiss something new simply because it is new. Or is it because you are old? Is it because you are judging something based on old standards? Perhaps those standards have become antiquated?
The basic message is this: we are gamers because we rejected those old ideas. We chose something different. We chose video games.
